A salt pool with more than likely make it easier for you to maintain and the water may feel softer. But not so much for saving you a lot a money. You have to figure in tha initial cost of the unit($700-$2500), replacement cell every 3-5 years($300-1200), total cost for salt start-up($60-800), labor for the install if you can't do it yourself($_______?), and other chemicals.

You still have to maintain the balance of the pool just like any other type.

I made a thread, it's several pages long //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

i realize that the end result is much the same, but is one system better than the other? a saltwater pool or what have you versus a traditional one?
Salt hands down. I had a regular chlorine maintained pool at first house. The salt water has a larger up front cost but much lower maintenance cost. It is more efficient at cleaning as the level stays constant. Time maintaining is greatly reduced. All it's benefits are in the long run of time and money. It also keeps the water soft and is never harsh so you don't get the burning in the eyes or cracking dry skin.

there were 3-4 picutres of this person with a guy on these forums. unknown who it was but the thread it was in was deleted i think. im stuck with just this pic now

I am finding the cost much lower. I don't run the pool as much as I did with traditional for one, so I have a lower electric bill. I was buying a shit ton of chlorine in the summers due to evap. The initial cost is a bit higher but I am sure it catches up over the first 5 years.
