A Baltimore man whose pregnant fiancee and son perished in an apartment fire last month is suing the building's owner for $53.3 million, alleging the lack of functioning smoke detectors caused the deaths.

Wearing a T-shirt that featured commemorative photos of his family, Roy Riley Jr., 28, appeared somber Monday morning and said the incident has "destroyed" him.

"I took a great loss and someone's got to pay for it," Riley said, even as he acknowledged that no monetary award could replace his family.

skip a bunch

He is seeking $18.2 million for his own injuries, lost possessions and pain and suffering; $17.5 million on behalf of his daughter, for the loss of her mother; and $17.5 million on his son Royelle's behalf as the representative of his estate.

If the smoke detectors were not maintained according to code, then yes he deserves every penny the property management/owners have. And then some.

Forget my apology advice, just keep going out and being irresponsible during the week. Apparently it works in your relationship, lol
Too much bling for me. I am very conservative in my tastes though.
