The one time I played, they had a policy where people didn't show their hands afterwards. I thought that was craziness. I defeated everyone but because I think I was a superior analyst, not a superior poker player.
There is no luck. It is predetermined what cards you will get. They are in order and the people are in order. It is not as if some magic happens in between dealing and reception.

Just because people alternate strategies, doesn't make them cease to exist. Nash proved this oh say 80 years ago with several calculus equations in repeated games.

People can lie because these house rules allow people to not show their cards at the end. Not only do people lie, the game encourages it. I do not know why it is fun to lie.

No, I am pretty good at 5 card draw as I understand well. But again, cards are shown at the end, which greatly helps strategy.
Dude. it isn't house rule. You are under no obligation to show cards if everyone folds. Lying is one of the basis of the games. If you can't find the bluff fun then you will fail. Simple as that. That is what helps the game break the statistics.

But most of them don't seem to be able to justify spending $40 on a handle when they can just buy 2-4 cases of Budweiser instead.

In fact, I would use your power in nearly all strategy games. Most games do revolve around honest statistics. Poker ISN'T a game I would trust your input in. It takes a certain deviant character to pull a lot of it off.

After readiing that, I say IamDeman is correct. No poker for you.

LOL @ showing your cards. That's a sure way to lose the game EASILY.
Not really. If you could very easily work it into your strategy. However, if you are playing with people who aren't exactly your friends, it could be a good way to get people very pissed off at you.

OK, now you have a point. I know many who have bought a bottle just to keep in view, but not actually drink it often. They do grab the bud more often lol. I live in bud country too. I hate it.

Yes, but you tell when you have statistically superior hand.
The problem is, I don't bluff....until I get drunk or whatever. But then I am having a good time instead of playing to win. I get disgusted at myself for being undisciplined.
You could play a low limit game, but I really don't see you playing NL.
