The one time I played, they had a policy where people didn't show their hands afterwards. I thought that was craziness. I defeated everyone but because I think I was a superior analyst, not a superior poker player.
There is no luck. It is predetermined what cards you will get. They are in order and the people are in order. It is not as if some magic happens in between dealing and reception.

People can lie because these house rules allow people to not show their cards at the end. Not only do people lie, the game encourages it. I do not know why it is fun to lie.
No, I am pretty good at 5 card draw as I understand well. But again, cards are shown at the end, which greatly helps strategy.
