don't you hate whenever you play with a loose player and then they happen to catch something on the river. That pisses me off more than anything when you are holding the nuts until the river comes.
It sounds like you played correctly, but you must not have been betting a lot for him to stay in the hand so well. He obviously didn't think the hand through correctly whenever he had a jack but with a weak kicker. If you would have bet enough to where it messed with his pot equity(meaning it cost him more to play then the outcome of the win) he would have folded.

It's limit.

I hate it when that happens. You should have cheated.

I had a similar experience the other night. I had AJ and raised before the flop. One caller. The flop came QJ blank. I bet, he called. the turn was a blank. I bet he called. The river was an eight. I checked and called his bet. He had J8.
Middle pair with no kicker and called all the way until he hit 2 pair. geez.

Only in that the guy was dominated.

I like no limit because you can control the odds better. Limit, people play all crazy like.

Yes, and you can also lose a night's work in one night. I am not a good NL player, but I understand the game. (Tappin is a very strong nl player.)

But I would be so bold to say that I am better at limit poker than most NL players are at NL.

This is true, I would agree with that. You just have to play somewhat conservative/semi-aggressive. I lost 50 dollars in about an hours play time once but that's because I didn't know what I do now. If I would have played with those same people know, I bet I would have been a medium stack player instead of short. I dont' think I could have been the big stack because there was a guy who probably had 1k in chips. Unless I could have caught him with a chance for all in //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif.

I have probably only played NL 20 or so hours (not counting home game tournament BS). I could not begin to estimate how many hours I have played limit, but it would certainly be measured in the hundreds of hours.
