It isn't the point. He refuses to let UPS deal with it. I still don't know why he didn't file for the headunit. He said it was busted and took them hours to get the face plate on. I even stated that was a mint condition unit.

Weird... I was 10 minutes late and halfway through the shift they asked if I would be interested in a management position since one of the other managers is leaving in a couple weeks. That was definitely unexpected.

They have packaging rules. I was even told by the lady at the counter, speakers aren't covered if not double boxed. They insure against abuse by them, not negligence by you.

That is the purpose of insurance. Insurance gives me the right to crash my truck into a tree if I wish to do so. It is called moral hazard for that very reason.
If insurance did not protect against negligence, there would be no purpose for insurance really. Few, if any wrecks, are not cause my negligence.

Yeah, that is the way I am looking at it Flip. Insurance spreads the risk among all those who participate by paying premiums.

I don't know why I have to insure against the carrier abusing my package. If they do that, they should be responsible. It seems to me they are the ones who need to be purchasing insurance for that type of loss.

If I bought a product for $100, there is no difference between $100 and the product. Otherwise, someone got over on the other person.

This is interesting, there was a thread a whiole back where someone was demanding the full insurance proceeds, which was more than what they paid for the product.

I didn't say anything because the person making the demand seemed like an *** --but there are a lot of courts that would agree with him. It's based on a concept of "cover." If you paid for a $500 for a BNIB JL 1000/1 you were not bargaining for a refund -- you were baragaining for the amp. If the cheapest you can find the amp elsewhere $800, then that is the proper figure to base your damages off of. Wierd, huh?
