I wouldn't buy unless I could completely afford it by myself. Which is what I perfer. My check goes to the bills and hers toward discretionary. If she wanted to walk, she could. However, she is afraid I might kick her out for no good reason, which is a legitamate concern, but that doesn't hurt my feelings like it does hers.

I'll have to ponder on that for a bit. It does change the dynamics of the sentence, but I am trying to see it from a woman's point of view,

effort goes a long ways as well

going to store, purchasing whatever = not a lot of effort

searching for something hard to find = will get more brownie points even if you paid less for it than the first thing
