Crotch rocket too dangerous...need something fast

So i have been getting very interested in a sport bike lately for a nice summer vehicle that would save some gas but my parents aren't exactly fond of the idea. And i have heard many different things about insurance some say very cheap some say outrageously expensive. I am looking for some ideas or stories of experiences of other fun toys. Dirt bike was a thought but might not drive it a whole lot and while sport ATVs can be fast i am sure i doubt they would compare to nice motorcycle...

Any thoughts or ideas?

why dont u get some insurance quotes? they are free and not it's not that hard. progressive's website will give u one in like 5 mins.
x2.

If you have never ridden, insurance will not be god horrible. Take a class, pass the test and you will get a discount. For me, being an 18 year old, having taken a MSF class, in addition to my car insurance, it is an extra 350 a year. That is having good grades, and no tickets as well or anything on my record.

So basically, with car and motorcycle, I pay 1000 a year.

not quite a busa, but still moves nicely //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
that will save you some money too.

Just buy a Ninja 250. It has good gas mileage, it will go pretty fast, enough to be enjoyable, but isn't too fast (top speed is about 100, 95ish) so your parents will be happy, and it will be safer that way too.

When I was 18, I got quoted by State Farm for a brand new 2007 GSXR 600 and it was $138 if I had full coverage and $45 for liability only. My insurance for my truck is only $350 every 6 months...so about $58 a month and Im only 19. Good grades+ all the other discounts pay off. I say get a drag banshee, thats what I did...in 100 yards it was faster than most streetbikes. 421 Cheetah Cub on alcohol=100yds in 4.0 seconds at 72m.p.h.

go with a decent motorcycle but nothing crazy. if you're looking for something fast and forgiving, id go with 600cc middleweight sportbike (ie: sv650, ninja 650r, gs600 etc). they are fast enough and not too steep on insurance compared to a supersport bike (r6, gsxr600, 600rr, etc). quotes depend on driving record, age, location, and many other small factors. some will not even insure a new rider if they carry certain amount of points on their driving record. many insurance companies offer discounts for those who complete the MSF (which i highly recommend btw). statefarm in california lets u insure ur car as primary and bike as 2nd to save money.

if your parents wont let you get a street bike, get a dirt bike. its hella fun and will teach you clutch/throttle control, and how a bike will move underneath you. then when your ready you can move up to a street bike.

i bought a dirt bike like 4 months ago and its one of the best investments ive ever made, and i enjoy riding more then just about anything else. i also got to ride a cbr 600 f4i the other day, and that was the most intense adrenalin rush ive ever had...60mph in first gear is insane.
