just picked one up and i heard that there more or less just tone amps? that there really hard to tune and always needs crossovers/equalizers? if i decide to go for a more daily amp what kinda price tag should i slap on it most recent ive seen was 750 shipped for a beat up one?

im not worried about that the person just told me the amp was really just for spl not for daily groundpounding is this true? if so im gonna just sell it pick up something for daily

what do you mean "just tone amps"?...you mean like running them below their rated impedance for burping purposes?..yeah, they are awesome for that...but if you have the electrical to keep that thing happy between 13v and 14v at the rated 2 ohm power, you will be looking at @ 4 - 5K rms all day, every day. I really think your friend is very ignorant and you obviously do not realize what you are holding..one of the best amps ever made. Rated at 4000watts RMS at 2 ohms @ 12 volts! If you are scared of that much power, or you cannot afford the proper electrical for it, then by all means get a smaller amp that you can properly support, Otherwise, tell your friend to go back to school and you will not be disappointed with that amp...and just think, you will be one of the few who are not forced to run at 1 ohm or less to be able to enjoy that much power.

he told me thats its more for burping purposes only that the crossovers built into the amps are made for burping not musical. i was planning to run it at 2.8 ohms on a single sundown nightshade psi recone. if i were to sell it theres very few scratches whats the going price for them? i havent been able to find any forsale heard there was only 150 made mines the vr4000da not the vr4000d so mine like you said does power at 2 ohm. its also non-modded the warrenty seal hasnt been touched.

to be honest here i agree with most what pepole have said and will add this . most amps fail due to user error, the few that are manufacture defects usually either blow or fail right away not years down the line .

It's a great daily amp if you can keep it powered properly. It'll smoke if you don't have enough juice.

Most people don't have proper electrical to run something that big. And if they run It anyway, they will likely smoke it. And then they'll come on the Internet and say the amp is bad for daily.

It's actually very well built, and will do great if you can supply the juice. They're stout amps.

But like was said before, it is an older amp, and replacement parts may be hard to find if you ever do need them.

my thing is i dont really want to pay 600$ for a alt, 300$ for wire and 300$ for batterys and everything else lol. im tryna sell it mine only thing is a set price ive seen them go for 800 down to 550 really depending on condition and seller. im not fiending for money so am i in no way inclined to sell for 550$ lol
