I have done it this way many times,very effective ....
I usually just melt a nice section of solder off the roll
and create a small pool of solder in the copper lug,insert cable and its done in a metter of seconds...Lugs are dirt cheap I think I pay like 50 cents each VS the overpriced gold plated stuff...
I also like the double wall heat shrink and welding cable for these types
of audio/power applications
