I'm curious though, what are 'SQL softparts'?

Coil is 66mm tall, it had different OD on the coil to change the gap, Cone is softer, surround and spiders are also not the same.

When anything is compared side by side it is always subject to opinions. I am sure DC has good products I really don’t see the point in trying to cut them down to say RD is better or cut RD down to say DC is better.

If you know something than you do but you are not going to be able to convince or sway people over a forum.

Jesus I leave this thread and come back and all this b.s. this is so far off topic its not funny..Steve very nice video nice flex I will get a vid of same song on some night shades but way less power..Now people just comment on the video or just leave as mentioned these things get so far out of hand...There are many very good manufacturers and overall results is so instsal dependent...

Because it simply unloaded and exceeded mechanical limits. They weren't trying to control cone movement at the time, IIRC the tone that was being played was 10Hz under tuning. Not exactly the same kind of condition you'd encounter in an SPL environment...

I would still love to get a hold of 3 SHW 18's and put all 6 SAZ-3500's to them to see if they could handle it daily, but **** them mofos are pricey. Sounds great though.

I'd like to try some heavyweights, but even new in the classifieds they're ~500 each for a 15...I'd probably be better off finding some motors and reconing them.

I guess savag can't accept that the the lvl5 coil can handle 6kw...

that sure is funny,I talked to rusty over on smd and asked him if 4 of his level 5 15s would take the power of my 4 d9s daily and he flat out said,im not going to lie to you ,NO they will not,BUT there may be a level 7 or so out soon that will.

Also, why would there be a level 7 before a level 6?

I've never made a single comment about DC until this thread, because someone said that the level4xl wouldn't take 5kw...even though it has the same coil as the level5, and I have seen those coils handle 6kw. How long will a heavyweight take 6kw for on a daily basis? Both subs are being pushed beyond what the company specifies as safe operating conditions...what makes the RD so much more reliable? The fact that you like them more?
