crappy alt?

When im at idle and have my HU volume at 0, i only get 14v reading on my underhood battery and back battery with a DMM. Isn't my alternator supposed to be producing like 14.4? Im not even getting 2200w outta my AQ2200 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif Its a stock alt in my '04 dodge ram 1500 work truck

Its probally a small alterntor because there aren't a lot of electronics in the car to be powered...no power locks or windows

Depends on the car.

Probably around a 80-90 amp alt. Do you have the big three done? It will help.

thats probably normal, what batteries do you have? Only REAL way to check an alt is pull it off and have a parts store check it

why not? its not the amps fault, its not even the alternators fault, its the computer controlling the alternator, I have seen alternators put out over 20 volts (then shoot a fire ball out the side)

Why not just wait until you get the new ride? It may not be 14.4v but still 14v is still good imo.

because most amp make more power at 14.4 than 12. and makes the number look better and bigger to the average person
