crackling sound = blown?

my computer sub is makin a crackling sound when playing it at moderately high volumes... is it on a short path to the garbage can? should i go ahead and kill it with some test tones?

i had something similar happen to my on board card, it made all my speakers sound like they were blown, and I ended up putting a real sound card in the computer and it cured the problem.

If you need a soundcard replacement, i have like 10 i dont need, if you want one just pay for shipping and i'll send it to ya....nothing real fancy mind you but they work.
