Cracking my window makes it louder

Can anyone say bandpass? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif think about it -- your windows open is like having an aperiodicly loaded 4/6th order bandpass box to the outside world... with a front chamber that is HUGE and lossy.... and a small rear chamber (sealed or whatever yours happens to be) -- changing how much sd of window 'port' there is changes the tuning frequency //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif if you sealed off your car from the outside world very well and put subs IB -- and ported your trunk... and messed with the tuning of the front by how many windows were down... haha think about it a real huge bandpass box with a TON of large subs IB... Anyone want to set some new SPL records??? same effect for me, cant stand the bass with the windows up. plus, i dont us AC cuz of the price of gas, so my windows are down anyways. wont hear me doing any bass drivebys though.

By having the windows down you are creating more drag on the car.

^^^ yeah i think read somewere that putting youre windows is as bad or worse than than using the gas.

Happens to me too in my 04 chevrolet silverado single cab, I have to roll my windows down.

my crx is the same way, windows up, sounds like the sub is weak and no bass really, windows down, like twice as loud or with the door open

I have a small truck. It's a 2002 Ford Ranger. I have 2 12" Polk MOMOs running off of a Mark Antony 25opcm, about 800w RMS. I've noticed that at decent volumes I get a good bass boost by opening my windows. I'm wondering if because I have such a small cabin space that there just isn't enough air with the windows up to get the full volume. Does this sound about right? I've heard that there isn't much cabin gain in a truck. Does opening the window help compensate for the lack of air volume?
