Yeah there is a decent sized dent on the back as well. Some of the cooling vents are pushed it. Im just wondering if it got cracked and dented like that, the pully could be off too. Over time i could get worse im guessing. When i turn it it makes some noise like its rubbing a little on something but it doesnt look or feel bent.

If you get the alt hot enough and use the correct mix of baking soda - you cold probably make crack on it - , but yes crack on alt is a bad thing.

I would send it back.

I have asked for one. I guess he is going to the post office to see about insurance claims.

But when i turn it it makes a consistant humm. But in one spot it makes a sound like its rubbing.

Thats what i say. I didnt buy a bnib alt that was cracked and dented.

There will be no insurance claim since it was packaged like that. The seller is 100% responsible for the damages during shipping. The packaging you show might be OK if he would have placed that package inside another box with some peanuts. Simple paper is not good enough.
