Separate Faceplate from Head Unit wiring...

Hey all,

I am looking to separate the faceplate from the actual unit itself in an installation I am doing. This is desired as minimal impact is key, its a classic car. Thus any help on this topic is appreciated...

the cheap easy way to do it, would be to solder a wire from pin to pin on each, keeping all of them matched.

im guessing so he doesnt have to cut the dash or make the unit obtrusive on the interior.

Exactly, cant really mess with a completely stock 76 camaro with 6,300 miles

do that and just make sure the button on the headunit is pressed in so it thinks the faceplate is attached to the hu

did it on a 68 stang put the faceplate in the visor and ran wires to the deck which was under the seat

you could just keep the stock where it is and put the hu in your glove box or somewhere else.

it works best if you can find a second Faceplate that you can dissect. That way you are not actually modifying the HU itself-- and you avoid other issues like mentioned above.

google classic car radios there is a hide away unit that fits int a glove box very small. Or factory replacements.
