I have a boston GT40 on my highs at 2 ohms up front and 4 ohms rear.
On my subs I have a Memphis ST1500D pushing 3 sundown sa-8s at 2.67ohms before rise.
My lights dim a good bit when the bass hits and just today my high end amp seems to cut off when the bass really starts going. The sub amp is hotter than the highs amp so I dont think its overheating and the boston highs amp is fan cooled. I have zero gauge running to my batcap 800 in my trunk and 4 gauge to my memphis sub amp and 8 gauge to my boston amp. Stock 100a alternator. Scion tC.
could it be that the sub amp is pulling so much current that it is causing the highs amp to go into protect? would the smaller wire have something to do with this?
I am thinking about doing my big 3 as well. But someone told me that doing my big 3 only adds stress to my alternator since its stock. is this true?
the problem just started today and i have been running the setup for about a week maybe 2 weeks. all help appreciated.
