Couple arrested for not paying the tip

I've never heard of a mandatory gratuity. If I entered a restaurant that had such a thing I would turn around and walk out.

Some places will add in 'mandatory gratuity' at a set percent if the group is 6 or more, 8 or more, etc.

9 times out of 10 the service gets worse once that is triggered...

IMO a tip is something that's earned... decent service gets 10%, good/great gets 15%, and exceptional will get 20%.

theres more to this story, or these customers are retarded. I can guarantee that if before being assholes and just trying not to pay, if they would have spoken to the manager first and stated their claims they would of been taken care of. My girlfriend and I go out to dinner all the time and if service is absolutely terrible we will speak to the manager, but in a polite way. State our case, explain why we are upset, and 9 times out of 10 the meals free, discounted, or something. Very rarely will they just say screw you and call the cops.

Madatory Gratuity is when you have like 8 people at one table. They do it because they get assholes who sit there for 2 hours having business meetings, and then they get 40 refills and only tip $5.

mandatory gratuity? how about mandatory service....? you dont work, you dont get paid. the judge will laugh at this, and i'm sure the patrons will pursue it legally.

A judge will tell these dumb ****ing people to pay the $10 or whatever it was, and say don't go back to the restraunt ever again.
