counter-clockwise on amp settings to set to 0?

ok when i wire my amp up, i should set ALL amp settings completly counter clock wise as this is the default "0" or "lowest" setting correct? im just asking becuase the "level" (gain) knob on my hifonics goes from like .09volts to 9 volts, and im not sure which one means low gain and which one means high gain ... i assume the .09 volts is high gain and 9 volts is low because if my pre-outs were 9 volts then the gains would stay lower than if my pre-outs were 2 volts (which they are)
