Cop punches girl after pepperspraying himself. excessive or not?

Why? Rules/laws are there usually for reason. I doubt he planned to go to far in the beginning but she probably started yelling and being an *** about it.
It seems even YOU don't know how to properly break a law you don't agree with:D
You saw the whole vid. You dont have to say probly.

My safety first, fuck the law, in this situation.

Hmmm, so I guess everyone on here that has made a thread about being harassed by a cop and said they werent doing anything is "rather thug".

gotcha.
No, but I would bet 99% of the people were doing something completely idiotic. And you don't really hear of them saying "so the cop told me to get down and I said no" either. Because I would hope that people are smart enough to just listen to the law.

Sure they are not always right and may abuse their power, but it is their power to abuse. You could relate it to being a mod. You guys do all kinds of things to some people and totally let your "e-buddies" off the hook. Is it fair? Not remotely but you won't see me complaining because it is your power to abuse. One way or another your earned it.

Looked to me like she didn't start resisting until the cop threw her on the ground (possibly out of anger for macing himself?)

And I noticed at the end of the video that it said she has a current warrent for drug posession charges from that arrest, I didn't see the cops finding any drugs in the vids, maybe she ran from the warrent because she was set up by the dirty cop(s), in a poor attempt to justify their brutality.
Yes, much in the beginning isn't clear, but I doubt she resisted arrest after she was thrown. He was probably trying to get her attention as she rode down the sidewalk and as he got out of her car but she was refusing to acknowledge. That is resisting. You don't have to say "I am resisting" to be resisting.

The fact she has priors also means it is possible this officer has dealt with her in the past on his beat.

Yeah I'd definitely break it. Im not riding my bike in the middle of the street at night when its foggy. People already cant drive for shit.

Maybe dont ride your bike in the middle of street anytime at all? If its dark and foggy maybe you should not be riding a bike?

Being an avid cyclist, I will agree there. You do NOT want to be riding a bike at 6am on a road like that. Although she could have followed the rules and just walked the bike.

1. it is their power to abuse? This goes into a whole different discussion. You are so ready to give up your rights?

2. Im not a mod, it seems like thats what you were saying, but I may be wrong. But Im not a mod.

do you think this girl riding her bike on the sidewalk, in the dark and fog was idiotic? just asking.

Sure. If you don't agree with the law of riding on the sidewalk for your own safety that is reasonable. It doesn't give you the authority to combatively break it though. You break it and peacefully take whatever comes along with it.

so focked up that the cause of this was b/c she was riding a bike on the sidewalk........I would not put up with this if I were a Judge.

No reason to use force or initiate an arrest. A ticket is more than enough punishment for this type of crime.

no, not at all, i think that is a very idiotic law. but if a cop were to tell me not to do it... I WOULDNT DO IT. and be on my way, riding down the side of the road. not cause a confrontation.

what the hell are you talking about? I said I wouldnt ride my bike in the street. The law says I shouldnt ride it on the sidewalk. So Im not sure you understand whats going on, just read and follow along.

On the contrary. I care so much about my rights that I understand their is a way to exercise them properly.

No it wasn't idiotic to ride on the sidewalk. However, resisting when being questioned about it is the wrong way to express it.

Put up with what? the fact she was stupid and was riding her bike in the dark\fog on a sidewalk? or the fact the officer for some reason decided to stop her (she had warrents he may have known her) Or are you not going to put up with the fact she did not comply with the officer and then resisted arrest?
