Converting 6x8 speakers...

I have a 97 ford explorer with 6x8 speakers in the door. is there anyway to convert them to round speakers without cutting into the door? if not, is there any components to really get good mids out of them? i have audiobahn 200w now, but they dont get the mids very well and the left speaker ALWAYS manages to end up making a weird noise whenever the bass hits, like it is hitting something. i've replaced it twice, so i'm pretty sure its not the speaker. im open to suggestions!

make a speaker baffle... for a 6 1/2..

take the stock speaker flip it over onto a pice of wood. trace the size out. cut it out. and make whatever size whole in the baffle for youre new set of speakers..

the only problem I had was that the screw location do not match up so I ended up being able to only screw in 2 of the screws in the actual door and the other 2 are just holding the speaker to the baffle. I will be making new baffles to fix this problem when i get my thanksgiving break. I would use 1/4.... I have 1/2 now and my mids will hit the door on high volume levels
