Hello,

I am new to this forum.. i hope someone can help me out

I have a 99 acura integra.. and i have a pioneer headunit. when i installed this headunit there would be this continuous sound coming from the speakers when my engine is on.. the more i rev my car.. the louder the sound gets. and when i turn off the engine, you cant hear the sound anymore? can someone help me fix this problem?

if your grounds are good ground the rca shields on your pioneer headunit thats what i had to do and it fixed it 100%

just loop a wire around the rca shields and put it on one of the screws that goes on the headunit chassis.

x2 this is the standard fix for Pioneer head units. They sound great if you run mids/highs off the internal amp in them....but when you hook up an amp to them, its noise city. The only succesful way ive found beyond tapping into the rca jacket ground is also putting a bar choke in line to the main power lead to the head unit....this will remove noises like the thumping of the electric fuel pump, and windshield wipers. Unfortunately, Pioneer head units **** for SQ... Im planning to throw mine in the dumpster out back here in a week. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

wrong wrong wrong wrong!!!!!

first off its not road noise, it's called alternator whine.

next, pin point where its coming from. To do this disconnect the RCA's from the amp. If the noise is still there then the problem is not the HU,

however,

pioneers are known for bad internal grounding issues, if the rca ground didn't work, chances are the head unit has a bad ground. NEVER use the ground from the factory wiring harness. Always run the ground to a metal surface, be sure you sand it down and get a nice clean ground spot. If you still have the alt whine, try lowering the gain on the amp. If the problem still persists you can try a ground loop isolator. You won't have as much output but the alt whine should be gone. If not, you may have a damaged head unit.
