Considering new cars (infiniti or bmw) wondering about integration

Hi!

I'm considering purchasing a BMW 335i or an Infiniti G37. I know I'm going to want to put a new system in, but I have been out of the hobby for about ten years. What level of integration is possible now? It is possible to make a nice stereo that works with the displays already in the car? Can a nice system work with iDrive or the Infiniti Nav system? What's possible in this realm?
