connecting two RCA cables together?

I have a 15 foot RCA cable going from the head unit to the amplifier in the trunk.

Problem is, it's dangling everywhere because there's not enough slack to put the cable through the vehicles trimming and such. It's too short.

Is it OK to use a coupler and connect an extra 6 feet of RCA cable? Or will there be unforseen problems?

You can.By the time you buy a set of couplings, and another set of rcas, it would be just as well to get a 17ft+ set of rcas, and rrun them again/reroute.If you do decide to use couplings/or female -male rcas,be sure to use electrical tape to cover exposed areas of the connections from grounding out/touching ea other..be cheaper in my opinion to get a 17ft+ to reach the trunk, usually $10 0n up to a more expensive pair

A local radio shack has RCA cable at 36 feet. But with that much cable, I'm worried about supposed loss of signal strength/interference.

It's also cheaper to just get another 6 feet and couplers......

Yeah I was thinking about the coupler barrels and thought maybe I can wrap them up with rubber tubing to prevent something nasty from happening.........unless it's a bad idea.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif

The 6ft, and tubing sound like it will be just fine.Id still tape them up before using the tubing, though its really not necessary to use tubing.Ya,lol 36ft is pretty long, and youd have to wrap it up,and look like chits..lol

I bought the couplers and 6ft RCA cables. I put electrical tape over the exposed barrels. Works just fine.

i also was able to finally put the wires under the vehicles plastic panels for a cleaner look.
