Connecting iPod to factory HU

My wife and I both purchased the new iPod Nano (8gb). I have an alpine 9883 in my car, so I will be using the Alpine *full speed* connection cable.

But, she has a stock HU in her 2005 Toyota Corolla. I've seen varying reviews on FM transmitters (the kind you plug into the cigarette lighter). We live in a pretty rural area, so there aren't a lot of stations in the lower freq's. Does this matter?

IMO, a direct connection into the radio antenna port (like older FM mods) would provide the best SQ. But, I don't want to dig into her dash if she can get away w/ a transmitter that plugs into the cig lighter port.

Thoughts?

What about this... @ $30, it's much cheaper than other transmitters.

Looks nice... I will have to see if her HU has the "SAT" button, which is required.

But, you must realize... she could care less about SQ. As long as it doesn't have tons of static and actually works (at least comparable to a regular radio station), then she's fine with it.

don't bother with the Drive'n Play... it sucks. A regular FM modulator should work fine.

I understand what you are saying, but I just couldn't in good conscious reccomend a RF piece.

Wheeew! That's a hefty price tag. I would rather put in an aftermarket HU w/ aux. inputs for that amount of money... hmmmm... that's a thought.
