Confusion about SUBWOOFER!

Hello!! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I recently bought a Kenwood KAC-8105D(1000watt mono class-D) amplifier and Kenwood KDC-U553BT audio player! I used a Kenwood KFC-W3013 subwoofer with this amplifier and now its coil has burnt! So i am thinking of getting a new subwoofer which has at least 400RMS and can handle my amplifier's power! For this reason i thought of referring to forums like Caraudio.com to get solutions from the members!

So is there anyone who can help me choose a subwoofer within $160??//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

You shouldn't have burnt up the first one. The subwoofer is a single voice coil that should handle 400 watts and that amp only puts out around 300 watts @ 4 ohm. How quick did you burn it out? If you're looking for something better suited to that amp get a dual voice 4 ohm sub that you can wire to 2 ohm to get around 500 watts out of it.

Its true that my subwoofer shouldn't have burnt. But thats the part I dont undertand; I think my mistake was increasing the bass booster! However, my request to u guys was to suggest me a subwoofer which is really good! All subwoofer brands in the market are not good even though the RMS and other essential measures are the same. So please suggest me those which u know are gud and last long! And for tuning i need to learn about the multimeter tuning coz i dunno that! Can any give a good link to any video or website where it is clearly described??

The problem, like you mentioned, was using the bass boost. I also suspect your subwoofer is not actually capable of taking 300W of power continuously. A 400W RMS subwoofer should not be burned out with 300W, even if the amplifier is clipping quite a lot. Do you have the subwoofer in an enclosure? If so, what type of enclosure is it?

So a kenwood sub in a prefab box with bass boost=disaster.

well! I think you should get yourself a sundown E series sub to replace the burnt kenwood! then set the gains properly and lay off the bass booster next time!
