I want to hook up a 4ohnDVC sub to a JL 500/1. Do I hook up the voicecoils in parallel and then run 1 wire to + and - on amp,, or do I run a wire from each voicecoil to amp? The amp Manual says the connections are wired internally in parallel hence my confusion. Thanks.

1.5 - 4ohms will have equal power.

( Since you have a Dual 4 subs - You should run your sub in Parallel ( All + together & All - together ) - Making it 2ohm @ the amp.

The only reason the amp has (2) + & (2) - is for multiple sub wiring...

* So you don't have to twist all those wires together ( you can put the wires on the left or right inputs - you'll still be getting the same power )
