Went to an installer yesterday to see about getting my gear installed which consists of: Diamond Audio hex's, Diamond Audio D361, Diamond Audio D5 300/4 and a pioneer p860mp.

The guy quoted me at $400 and said the way i wanted it installed would sound aweful. What i wanted him to do was bridge the amp for the hex's up front and hook the D361's up to the headunit for rear fill. Needless to say im going to look around at some other places, but wanted some input on your thoughts. Thanks guys

If the $400 included installation then I'd say that was a freggin great price! And your proposed install method sounds good to me, friend. Go ahead and get it done and be damned with the shop guy's opinion....it's your gear after all. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Edit: I didn't read carefully enouh to reaize that this was only for the install.....

I think he already has the equipment:crap:

yeah already got the gear ready to go, just need it installed:) I mentioned to the guy that most car audiophiles only run front speakers and he told me thats wrong and i didnt know what i was talking about. So was just wondering if i was informed wrong about rear fill and front speakers or this guy doesnt know his stuff?

400 for jsut an isntall? Thats a freggin rip off IMO, you seem like you know your stuff man, id make ait a weekend and learn and install yourself, it knowledge you hsould have if your into ca raudio.

You were not misinformed about rear fill. The installer is obviously ignorant as to how to properly setup a sound quality oriented install. My guess is that his knowledge doesn't go much past how to wire an amplifier, and how to install speakers in factory locations.

Your plan of bridging the amplifier to the front components and running the rearfill off of the headunit is an excellent plan. Do not let a misinformed installer tell you otherwise.

Thanks guys for the replies. Now considering doing the install myself. Got spring break coming up in a week so i'll have a lot of time on my hands incase i wanted to do it myself. Dont have too much knowledge on audio equipment but willing am willing to learn. If anyone knows a few basic how to's to refer to that would be great.

Only thing im concerned about is how good it will sound if i install it myself.
