Confused on my amp setup

Looking to purchase gently used in 100% working condition JL AUDIO 1000/1 V2 amp to push my JL Audio HO112R-W7 and JL Audio 450/4 v2 amp to push my front JL Audio ZR650-CS components and rear JL Audio XR650-CXi working with my Pioneer AVIC-Z3. Thinking also of wrapping all doors and trunk with Dynamat Extreme for the rattling. Any advice/recommendations on this setup on my Cadillac CTS. Thanks in advance.

Like JL Audio much?

Sadly, with JL's odd impedance rating on the W7 series, one is almost locked into going with JL Audio amplifiers because 1,000 watts at 3 ohms doesn't exactly come cheap, from ANYONE. Personally, I think the Alpine SPX Pro components sound better than the JL Audio components, but hey, whatever floats your boat. The only downside to the Alpine components is their crossovers tend to fall apart when mounted in the doors.

When it comes to rattles, closed cell foam is WAY better at stopping them than Dynamat, or any other form of sound deadening. Deadening will add mass to whatever panel you stick it to whereas foam between two offending surfaces will stop them from vibrating against one another. Also, if you want to stop road noise, which I think would be low in a CTS, mass loaded vinyl is the most effective way to accomplish this.

My only concern would be the electrical system on your Caddy. Do you at least plan to upgrade your battery to the newer technology AGM style over the factory Delco lead acid battery?

You can also look into second skin and find some good sound deadening that will solve your problem. Foam isnt the only way to go...
