i have two memphis m3 subs that give 300/600WRMS and are single voice coil.

i need an amp that will give 800-1100WRMS but what i dont understand is should i get a one channel amp that gives this much power or a two channel that gives this much power? very confused help would be appreciated

What impedance are the voice coils? If they're 4 ohm (which I am assuming since they seem to be the most common) Then your best bet would be to get a mono amp that is 2 ohm stable, and wire the 2 subs in parallel for a final load of 2 ohms. I would suggest something like the Kicker ZX750.1. I have installed many, and the birth sheets show that many produce upwards of 900w RMS.

I'm not exactly sure. I have talked to someone at a local audio shop and he said i needed a 2 ohm stable amp but i just dont understand about the channels. I found a 1 channel Soundstream amp that will give 1100WRMS @ 2 ohms is this a reliable brand?

Yes, soundstream is alright. For subs, a mono amp is fine. You can wire as many subs as you want to one, so long as it sees the correct impedance. 2-channel amps are good for subwoofers when you have to make the power at a higher impedance, like if you have a single 4 ohm sub, or a pair of single 8 ohm subs. You just wire the subs together, and bridge the amp.

If each sub is indeed a 4 Ohm SVC sub (the DVC M3 subs will have a "D" after the model number), then you will need a 2 ohm stable amp. The Kicker ZX750.1 is a great suggestion and you can get a refurb from an authorized dealer for only $175. People have reported very good satisfaction with the refurb Kicker amps from HFSC.com.

ok great, thanks for all the advice. i have two of the M3s and they are both individually rated at 300/600WRMS (or i guess 600/1200 combined) and the kicker amp you are suggesting is rated at 750WRMS would this be enough for my subs?
