Mr. Low End Monster!
ok where are all the guys who are fans of using big cone area? reason im asking this is because im puzzled on what to do as far as an bassrace setup goes. who all like the sound of lots of cone area sealed in Diamond shaped walls or any type of wall that isnt FLAT. basically walls like Randy,Tommy,Pipo all those guys. also what are the pros and cons of going with tons of cone area? only thing i can think of is just the cost!

Example: would you guys rather do 16 12's sealed in an diamond or 8 12s ported in an diamond? fo course power and subs would all be the same.

you know ive talked to people who have heard and sat in tommy and Frankie rio cars, but they all say that tommys move more air/ feels louder and i think this is the perfect example of the question i have, because both cars are doing around the same db numbers but Frankie use half the subs and ported!

so is it the Cone Area and extra motor that makes up for the lack of efficency that sealed gives?

Hopefully you guys can shed some light on my ?

Also feel free to post pics of LOTSSSS of setups with tons of cone area sealed!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

seems cool and all but im really trying to get an understanding how / does it all balance out like i said im puzzled when it comes to using diamond shape walls with tons of cone area vs less cone area.

hard one, i'd like to know too.

My guess is that you can get higher number ported in the high 40. But 16 woofers = //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

go with 100 6.5" subs
Typical stupid first comment to a good question.

Sealed never really provides enough low-end for me, unless using certain woofers that excel in sealed boxes. But you can make pretty much make any sub dig low with a ported box...
I agree, the low end really suffers going sealed. It's just a different kind of loud, I personally like ported.

yea but thats when the design of the box comes in handy diamonds and walls where woofers face each other act as an bandpass alittle. kinda like its ported example:

^^^^^^^^ that setup is considered sealed too. but do you think he would pull off an 149.1@30hz with under 4kwrms with those same subs and amp in an FLAT wall sealed?

a friend of mine had 16 12s running off of 2 linear power 5002s sealed and he took a few competitions, how im not sure of the answer to your question and i would like to know as my brother and i and working on an 84 chevette... plan to put a 350 in it and redo the car before we look at the system which will be all TREO stuff

SOunds bad *** got any pics or vids of it? how does it sound to you?

yea i just threw 2 15s in my tahoe in an small sealed box with little power just wanted something to get me over untill i get all my equipment and it was Very loud for what it was i was really shocked. best thing about it, it played everything brilliant! now i should try it in an SLOT style box where the subs fire into an central chamber just like an Diamond wall and see what kinda difference it makes in output!

also sealed gives better sound where ported give louder sound
That is prolli one of the most incorrect statements i've ever seen... Many ported boxes can sound drastically better than sealed if they are tuned/built correctly.

What do u consider better sound anyways/what does that even mean?? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

Ported will generally get loud that is true... But stick a BTL or other SPLish sub in a sealed box and see if it sounds better in a sealed box.
