cone area ? 2 21" vs 4 18's

Im getting a great deal on 2 memphis 4000d's, what should i do use 4 my next setup 4 18's which would be either dc level 5 or fi btl's or should i go with 2 21" IA warden's....it will go in a 02 escalade i have around 20 cubes to work with

if your asking which has more cone area that isnt even a questions... lol the 4 18's have more. But i would go with 2 21's for wow factor! unless your going for spl

Area of two 21" diameter circles = 692.7 square inches

Area of four 18" diameter circles = 1,017.9 square inches

u cant go by that...some companies calculate the cone (smaller than 18inches in diameter)and a 1/3 of the surround

if you going to spend that much on subs, i honestly feel like you should go more power than 8kwrms. id go with 4 dc lvl 4's or 4 xls. FTW you got some good amps but keep your eye on the voltage. i had the 4000 and the 2500.

You can go by that. It doesnt matter if company A calculates differently than company B. Output is not based on manufacturer calculations of advertised specs. If you are comparing two different setups and sizes, and the difference comes out very close, then sure, start looking at surround types. But even then, manufacturer cone area calculation differences mean nothing. And frankly, other factors would end up being more important probably.

yo op seeing that u may be runnng 2kwrms or less each sub, you maybe better offf with the niteshades. id try to get an woofer that dont need alot of power to get running since your enclouser wont be on the very efficent side, being 5 cubes each sub. Shit why not go 4 SSX 18's? they work in 4 cubes and will get loud with 2kwrms each!
