Concept or Hifonics

I've always had good luck with hifonics. I dont know much about concept though. Do Concept amps do rated power?

2400RMS @ 1 ohm will put a smaller strain on yer electrical than 2400 @ 0.5

I'm pretty sure the concept does rated. I have a concept 1200 now I know it atleast puts out that maybe a lil more. Im asking because I the Herc will ship out tomorrow. I bought the Herc because I couldn't get the Concept, but now I can get it wanting to know which would be the better amp to get. I already have a concept 1200 and wanted to use the bass knob I already have, the Herc does have a bass knob and it is easier for me to get a matching Concept amp for my mids than it is the Hifonics. Which would you choose in this situation?

Really? How is that? 2400 rms is 2400 rms, isn't it? Whether you make it at 1 ohm or .5 ohm, it's still the same power with the same amperage draw to make that power.

hrm i may be wrong. I've always been under the impression that in order to run an amplifier at a lower load like that, you are going to need an electrical to back it. Thus, in turn, a bigger electrical system is there to keep voltage from dropping.

For example, an amp will have an easier time running at a 4 ohm load, so you wont need a huge arse electrical. whereas in a 0.5 ohm load, you will mos tlikely need a much beefier electrical.

Running at lower ohm loads generally tends to require more power because of efficiency factoring in. It's not guaranteed, but almost always is true. At 1 ohm for example, say 120 amps are pulled @ 14v to create 1400 rms. Drop that same amp down to .5 ohms, and set the gains to the same power with a dmm, and you'll probably be pulling an extra 10-20 amps or more.

I have heard mixed reviews about the Concept amps, but have heard nothing but good reviews about the Hercs. The Herc will do more power at .5 ohm and the same amount of power at 1 ohm, they are underrated. Not to mention that the Herc's build quality is much better.

That's true. Forgot about efficiency for a second there. Yeah, efficiency does drop lower as the load drops, but on another note, I'm thinking about selling my subs to get new ones that I can wire down to .5 since most likely, box rise will take it back up over 1 ohm.

So both amps would put out about the same power at 1 ohm?
What's funny is I forgot to answer your question. I'd buy the Hifonics. The Concept 2400's had a high failure rate, if I'm not mistaken. The revised version was the 2410, which was a bit better. I think you'll like the Hercules. I wouldn't buy the Concept just because of the known problems. The Concept should do rated but the Herc should be a bit underrated. Either way, you shouldn't be able to hear much of a difference between 400 watts.

Shut up.

No.

Running an amp at lower resistances makes it less efficient, and thus will draw more current. Stop talking.

I had a CCA1200D way back when, and it was a solid lil amp, blew the PA Mofos i had at the time up, and it ran at .5ohms all day its self, i would say did close to all of its rated power, good clean lil amps, the xx-hercules is hands down a better amp tho, the herc will do a lil over 2000wrms @1ohm and yes .5ohms all day with the right electrical to back it up because if you drop voltage to much the hercs will up and blow, along with most amps, the herc will also in my opinion beat the concept in a 1ohm load and then really go above it at .5ohms, so get the herc, they are better amps, plus more effecient cleaner power, and resale is a no brainer!
