computer speakers

I have an older 2.1 set thats pretty *****in for its size. Sealed 7.5'' sub, hits pretty hard. the main speakers dont have much HF response (mainly because its just a cone and no real tweeter), but they still do ok. A pretty decently powered system too. Like I said, bumps ok.

I agree I think Logitech makes some of the best stuff in it's area. I have the z-640's and they sound awesome. I'm thinking about getthing those z5500's for my next comp though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsupwink.gif.129404938effda6ad9cca39e7f4b58a3.gif But yea those speakers should be awesome. They're supposedly a step above the z-640's, the ones i have, which are hella nice already. I'm sure you wont be disappointed

The bass won't rock your world like the 640's or 5500's but beyond that they're pretty nice for the money.

The only other speaker system I'd consider besides the Logitechs are the Klipsch's. They have a warmer sound to them, which many prefer for music. The bass is nothing less then sesmic! The new ultras will rock your neighbor's house. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Cyber Acoustick is pretty bad to be honest.

I only trust Harmon Kardon, Logitech, Altec Lansing and of course Klipsch.

Logitech and Altec Lansing being the better of the three, especially for prices.

Harmon Kardon's are pretty good.

Klipsch being top of the line and extremely pricey (for computer speakers) are the best, obviously.

Um, yeah. Small detail I left out. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/banghead.gif.8606515f668c74f6de0281deb475b6fd.gif

IMHO, for real audio from your computer - don't buy premade "computer speakers". Treat your comp as just another source, and get regular home audio gear... I'll be getting a set of the ar.com kit from madisound.com soon for my computer, and I bet the $175 I'm paying will blow away the $300 klipsh and logitech speakers.

Problem with that is they are not powered, they don't include the 5.1 decoder that the speakers we are talking about include, without the right converter to utilize a sound card's signal they will introduce loud humming form ground loop problems, and they are only 2 speakers in comparison to 5 and a subwoofer.

Your speakers may have good sound, but you are comparing apples to oranges.

I understand the 5.1 vs 2.0, but I mean, in general, home audio stuff is going to sound MUCH better than any computer audio stuff. Sure, you have to have an amp (in most cases), and you may need an extra adapter, but in return you get superb sound.

I got the Z680s and I must say, I think they rock. I have a Audigy 2 to go along with 'em.

The highs seem a little harsh. The sub peaks at 50-53 hz. There is no EQ that I could find, but that's the audigy's fault. Those are my only complaints.

If I were to do it again, I would probably buy buy them again. I would much rather have a home audio setup but the cost for something like that could be rediculious, like car audio. This suits me just fine for my room.

i have the klipsch promedia on my computer, the sub will rattle my walls, i got them from bestbuy for around 180$. it was hard to put up that much money for computer speakers, but they sound awsome. the ultras should be like 2 or 3 times better with 2 8s, compared to my 6.5. circuit city only has the weird looking ones, cant remember what name, but the promedias are better. bestbuy dude was trying to tell me to get some altec lansing speakers over the klipsch, but the altecs didnt have as much power and you could tell, but 200 watts is pretty good for computer speakers, also creative labs has some beast computer speakers too

but klipsch sound better i think

I've owned the Klipsch 4.1's and now the 5.1's and I can't say I've found a fault with them yet. My system uses the dual 8" woofers and I can hear it outside without getting crazy with the volume. The new ultras utilize a 20% larger sub enclosure, so they go a little lower then mine. They also allow for you to daisy chain additional subs if you're freaky about your bass. So instead of a 5.1 system, you could have a 5.2 or 5.3, or.... or....

a 5.12!!! Now that would be some overkill. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif But who's knockin' overkill.

BTW, my Audigy comes with a software EQ bundled with it. I'd be really surprised if the A2 didn't as well.

Lastly, my point with the home audio equipment isn't that it wouldn't sound good, it was that by the time you got all the stuff to make it work you will have spent considerably more money. That's why they started making "computer speakers" in the first place. They're just home audio systems scaled down and adapted to PC's.

Actaully, after looking into it, i found hte equalizer along with alot of other fine tuning controls...yay //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Space limitations, complicated installation (for the "average" consumer) and expense sometimes eliminate that from being a viable option for most people...
