laptop wont boot, says NTLDR is missing. it wont even let me boot from the win xp cd...i really dont wanna lose my songs on my hard drive, but i have a feeling im going to have to...but anyone know what that file is that is missing, and if its repairable? i was gonna repair it with the winxp cd, but like i said, it wont boot! something wrong with cd drive? seems hard to believe becuase i had just burned a cd the night before...its a dell inspriron 5100

I would take your Hard Drive out, hook it up to a USB adapter, connect to a desktop running XP, and run chkdsk on that drive, should fix it. You might have to do a chkdsk /f

just look for a cheap cheap External enclosure for a 2.5" hard drive, or laptop drive, I'd say from a computer store that would sell boss audio equivalent stuff, under $20, or best buy for $30
