So I decided that I am going to start using my TL/RTA Laptop. Its been running really show for a few weeks. I have a feeling that this is what it is...No programs running, this is what i see under processes.

I have never seen svchost.exe constantly draw that much processing power. Ever. Either it's one weak laptop or something commandeered your internet backbone.

EDIT: Apart from that, I don't really see anything out of the ordinary. In fact, if you have had that laptop and not formatted in a while (few months to better half of a year), I'd be pretty impressed at how well you've kept it uncluttered.

I usually dont load anything extra on it, and I defrag it once a month. Unfortunaly its running REAL slow.

You have 2 windows update services running (wuauclt.exe) which is odd ...
Only svchost.exe process I can think of that consumes 20+ MB of RAM would be System Restore Service (other than Indexing Service, but that was disabled with SP2) ... Make some backup discs, then try disabling system restore and see if that cures the slowness ...

Also, I'd uninstall QuickTime immediately //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

No Anti-Virus ?
Brings up another question, when was the last time you ran updates or a virus scan? Try housecall.trendmicro.com.

I would run an antvirus since you have a lack of one, I would also run a disk defrag to see what that does. that windws update running dual looks wierd to me too. once running as system and one running as local user? were you installing any updates when you took that screenshot?

I will try what you said. See if that helps. I just started using this thing on the net a month ago...I know that I know better to not have AV software on it, I am still looking for my mcafee or norton at the house. I may just have to get another copy out fo the software room...

Please read above...and I will stick with something that I know AI can trust. I dont trust any .com site to check my comps out.

No updates were going on. I somply booted up, logged on my name, waited for the comp to fully load and took the screen shot.

AV software will be on there tonight.

everytime it try to run this the browser closes right when its done with the search //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif . I guess what ever is on my comp doesnt like trendmicro much.

Get AVG anti-virus...it's 100% free and works awesome....IMO

And get copies of CCleaner......"crap cleaner"....run it to clean your system and also run it to look for "issues"...if it finds issues click to fix them and then run the issues scan again...keep doing this until no issues are found......

Also, last but not least......get a copy of ad aware se.....it's also free and does a great job of hunting and deleting adware

One more thing...after doing all of these...run updates on the av and ad aware to get the most recent updates and definitions and then run them again...or get the updates first

and then defrag your hd one more time to re-compress all the space these progs clean out

Lengthy experience with Norton, from versions 2003 to 2006, tells me that you should totally avoid it. Norton is like the AOL of anti-viruses. It's slow, hogs memory, and only seem capable of quaranteening viruses. I'll give you 3 guesses why you can find it at Best Buy with rebates that make it free.

I don't have a lot of experience with Mcaffee, what I've seen isn't much better than Norton.

If I may as a former PC tech make a recommendation, I believe E-Trust internet security would be the best all around AV for a laptop.
