Computer Help: Possible Short

I have an HP laptop that I left on the table. My stupid dog chewed through the AC adapter cable and it is now in two pieces.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif I tried reattaching them but it would not work. I am going to buy a new adapter.

Here is the quetion: I turned on the computer for about 30 seconds then it turned off due to the battery dying. After I reattached the "fixed" cable it would not turn on anymore. Is it possible that the computer got fried? If so is there anything I can do about that? thanks.

Did you make sure you hooked + with + and - with -, ground with ground? I would think it would be hard to tell what was what and that you could have really ****ed things up. Is there any internal fusing in that thing?

Don't know about the fusing.

The wire was two wires in one if that makes any sense. I stripped the outside cover and there was bare wire and antoher plastic cover. I connected the two inside wires together then tapped them off, then connected the outside wire together. this fu**ing sucks.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif

Take your lappy to a local store...Circuit City or Beast Buy...I think they cary HP's. YOu may get lucky and find a model that will have the same power connection. Ask them if you can check it.

I'm going to go tonight. This thing is about 4 years old. Hope I get lucky. if not, I'm kill that fing dog:furious:

Went to BB and the computer is fine. They wanted $90 for the adapter. No thanks. Orderer on Ebay for $24.99. Good ol' Ebay
