same specs as my machine....i'm told these cost between 2000-3000 dollars newDepends. If the BIOS is password locked and the disc drive isn't set before the hard drive on boot priority, you're screwed, ALTHOUGH if you find out the laptop's model number, you might be able to Google a backdoor password for the BIOS...
If you can do that, then you can get yourself a copy of Windows and reformat.
Any idea of what the specs are?
Also, most laptops do not have a CMOS clear jumper. However, on my IBM T22 I had (FREE) you could take a panel off on the bottom and unplug the BIOS battery pack and that would clear it.
i don't have the machine....someone is trying to sell it to me. It is "hot" per se, but not in the way that the company owns it and has reported it missing. Its hot in the way that, they got all new laptops and these were supposed to be destroyed since they most likely contain propriatary information and a few managed to escape the destructo-machineif it is before boot it is a bios password so your basically screwed. if it belonged to a corp then trying to call ibm isnt going to help because the laptop is probably registered to that corporation
if it is a windows password, just format the hard drive and reinstall
why not do the honorable thing and return it?
wow never heard of a corporationg destroying whole computers. usually they just destroy the hard drives to protect data and considering from the specs you gave how new the computers are i would be very scepticali don't have the machine....someone is trying to sell it to me.
