ok im so frustrated with my buddies computer.. its an asus A8N SLI motherboard with an athlon 64 3700 san diego chip and two gigz of RAM. it use to load windows in 20 seconds tops (starting from powering on to windows). today he went to turn his computer on now it just freezes during the loading windows screen. when i go to disable the onboard sound, its a little faster at loading windows and doesnt freeze.. but still slow.. when i disable the onboard sound AND the onboard LAN, it loads like it normally should.. very fast. however my buddy wants to use both of these onboard peripherals... anyone have an idea of what the hell is causing this? im so stumped and frustrated....

Iam not a computer geek, and I do not know a whole lot. Might be messed up driver or the boot.ini is messed up. Look into the bios and check everything.

Iam not sure if this helps, doubt it. Iam not going to say too much cuz some @sshole will lower my rep because they say that I dont know what Iam talking about and I shouldnt post my opion.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

Does an NT kernel version of Windows even have a boot.ini file?

If you disabled the LAN and it loaded as it should, the problem is probably that it is looking for a LAN connection before it boots, and not finding one. I know how to disable that in Linux, but that's not much of a help.

If you can, go to ASUS' Web Site and (re)install the newest drivers for the onboard LAN and sound, and see if there are any bootup LAN options. Disable them and see if you get any turnaround.
