computer driver help

i have a IBM thinkpad t42, just did a fresh install of vista....

everythings working well except when i use volume controls and fn keys, i get no on screen display of whats happening....also i cannot view my LCD through component or s-video which i was able to do before this install...which driver should i be looking for

Is that the vista version that came with your thinkpad? Vista is not going to have all your drivers on it. I am going to guess that you had something else on there and you dsecided to put vista your computer instead... Well unless you have the device drivers disk or the original backup disk for that comp you will have some trouble. You could try to connect to the internet and to to IBM and do a driver download and system check. Sounds like a headache. I have been there before.

search your laptop on google and download the vista drivers online.

yes i looked...any have installed a lot of them to no avail....IBM used to have a program that would go through my computer download and install all the drivers i needed, called thinkvantage update...but discontinued it for some reason.

I do not think i have the original disk....hmmm

find out the name of the driver and/or the chipset of the audio controller and just search for it elswhere

what about the TV connection not working....would this have anything to do with BIOS?

they are not drivers....they are programs...you should have gotten a disk with your computer that has all these on it...all your stuff is working..just not working the way you are used too....IBM might have these little plugins for download on their site but most likely you will need a disk..

i got the volume stuff back with a driver...now i just need to figure out how to get my RGB connection working
