and for later on, if you use p2p progs or torrents, i think it's worth the investment to get a 2nd hard drive.
you set up your primary hard disk as the temporary/working folder, where the program puts files AS it's downloading, and then as your 'completed files' folder, use a folder on the 2nd hard drive.
By copying the COMPLETED file onto the 2nd hard drive, it's erasing the nasty, slow fragmented files from the temporary folder into nice, linear defragmented files on the new drive, where if you have the temporary and completed files on the same hard drive, rather than re-writing the file into the new folder, it simply alters the disk's table of contents, which doesn't re-write the file, but simply changes the location of it.
That, and i highly recommend a program called ccleaner, which is free, and is added to the drop-down menu when you right click your recycle bin. Instead of 'empty recycle bin' you have an option to 'run ccleaner' which will empty your recycle bin, and ALL of your temporary folders automatically. It also has a tool to check for registry conflicts, and automatically fix them/remove the entries from the registry, has a 'startup manager' which will show which programs are setup to run when you boot your computer, as well as a few other awesome tools.
Good luck.
