Does that camera even support firewire?
A video capture card will also work, but the quality will be a bit less. In this scenario, you plug the RCA or S-Video cables into the capture card, then use a program that just records the stream to your computer. Depending on the capture software that comes with your card, you may be able to just burn directly to the dvd afterwards, or you may have to re-encode the file first.
It really all depends.
All of the above are valid suggestions...it really all depends on your equipment and what you want to do. If your camera has a firewire port, then that's going to give you the best quality, as the source stays digital. However, as jleecong pointed out, you won't be able to capture anything else that doesn't have firewire (like if you ever wanted to record TV).So does any one know how to convert hi-8 tapes to digital mpgs?
