CompuStar Pro P2W9000FMR

my remote says 2W9000FMR.....urs seems to have a P in front of it so i dont know that they are exactly the same. i love mine. I have had 2 issues with it though.

1. first my antenna inside the car was installed in the front windshield. on really hot days my remote wouldnt get any reception. it would still function perfectly (remote start, unlock doors, alarm etc) it just wouldnt show anything on my lcd remote. we moved the antenna to the back window (tinted 35%) and havent had any issues since.

2. my car battery died on me and the alarm went nuts. needed to be reprogrammed by the dealer for it to work right again.

i also knew someone that had one of the older models and he had to keep his transmitter separate from his keys because the chip on his ignition key interferred with the remote.

neither were major issues just stating what i had. if you remote start alot the remote seems to eat up batteries pretty quick. alot of "high end" installers in my area only carry compustar if thats any indication of how good they are.

the only thing i dont like about compustar alarms is that the remotes are not user friend like the viper 791xv. but thats not gonna stop me from gettin the P2wss. how much are you gettin it for? my friend got his for 400 installed.

I got this.. good alarm lots of features.. my only complaint is the shock sensor is SUPER sensitive.. I have it set at 3/10 and loud motorcycles or exhausts will set it off. I think at 10/10 if you breathed too hard it would go off.

I have both of the compustar pro systems. The pro ss in one vehicle and the standard pro in the other. I love both alarms and they have tons of features. alot of the optional features can be programmed using remote and then some of the other features require the compustar programmer. Just make sure that you have it installed by a good dealer who is familiar with the pro product. I feel that the remote is very easy to use and the programming is very straightforward. They have very good range, However they don't obtain the distances that are listed, (maybe in a perfect condition situation it would)

I paid $380 installed for mine. (ebay and good friend FTW)

This is my first 2-way alarm, I'm liking the benifit of having a 2-way so far. I'm still learning it's strengths and weaknesses. This is a very powerful alarm, tons of features. I also installed a backup battery.

PROS:

  • Range
  • the remote displays in-car temperature and voltage
  • RPS paging is freaking awesome (in case you forget keys, no worries)
  • 3 pages of programming options //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
  • anti-jacking feature
  • remote shows signal strength
  • you can program a certain time for the car to start
  • programming was easy
  • comes with one-way remote

CONS:

  • Unlock/lock is the same button
  • I couldn't get it to program the trunk release how I wanted. I ended up having to have it disarm, unlock doors, and then pop trunk (it's a 8sec process). This may not be so annoying later down the road. My car didn't have power trunk, so I added a solenoid.
  • Alarm won't disarm immediately with the 2-way remote. The remote has to first confirm your alarm is going off even though you can hear it.
  • The remote seems over all a little slow. For example, I have to press the update button to see when a door is open, it doesn't show it instantly.
  • I cant figure out how to get the valet button to work in the car, remote works fine

I have two of the Compustar alarm and starter combinations installed on vehicles. I have the 3000ft FM on a 2000 Expedition and the wide spread spectrum 6000ft on an 05 GMC Yukon. I can't say enough good things about either one. Although I do wish I had the super range on the Expedition that is on the Yukon. I don't think you can go wrong with this brand or the Viper 5900
