Decent components with a budget of around $300? Looking for set where the tweeters aren't so bright. Will be powered via 5 channel amp. Also is it best to disconnect my rears and not replace or go ahead and change them out? Running a sub anyway.

If you get your sound processor in and do some proper sound deadening with mass loaded vinyls along with proper tweeter positioning, you can make almost any set sound good and tamed. Will you be going active or just a passive component plug and play?

i did custom.my truck has 6x9's in the front doors.bought some image dynamics ctx69's and the tweet was being distorted.so i took them off the woofer,bought some alpine type s component tweets and now no more distortion.worked out great for me for under $300

Thanks guys. I am not sure I understand the value in active versus non active and where the benefits are. What I can tell you is this...... I will need to keep the factory HU because of the integration with my navigation system and bluetooth. I have a stock system with 10 speakers and amp. Why do I want to change it out? Well the quality simply is lacking and quite frankly it's just not loud enough for my taste. Here are my preliminary thoughts and you guys can Polk holes in it if need be. Replace front speakers with quality components that operate with clarity at high volume. Disconnect the center front dash speaker. Disconnect the rear speaker's and run enclosure with 2 rockford fosgate subs which I already own. Buy a quality amp to run said speakers and sub box tied into a audiocontrol lc7i so I can manipulate and define level adjustments . I considered a sound processor at first but choose the more conservative route to start keeping in mind I can graduate to a sound processor fairly easy if I find myself unhappy. I spend a lot of time in my car and enjoy rock /heavy metal at high volumes. My current stock speakers are getting around maybe 20 watts a piece.

Thoughts? Feel free to opine. Willing to spend the money on quality parts if I can accomplish what I want.

If I can lock in the level changes with the lc7i so the stock eq no longer can manipulate these levels do u think I need a processor? Or maybe the distribution of frequencies be speaker is still an issue without processor? I would like to understand the benefit.

The lc7i I just a nicer loc. with not much for adjustments to clean up the signals from the stock deck. Many will tell you. That if your using the stock deck. The only sure way to get a nice set up with amps is by using a processor

Thanks. I guess we're I'm struggling is what are we referring to when we say clean up the signal? I have read just what u said on more than one occasion but with little definition I to what that really means. The stock eq / processing adjusts the output levels per speaker based on volume levels. I can mitigate that issue with the lc7i. I am not opposed to a sound processor by any means but want to understand the value I gain by going that route. I am not on an audiophile by any means. Just like music at absurdly loud levels with minimum distortiono with absolute clarity. You guys know more than I do in this respect.

Then you'll need the processor for that the stock head units aren't made to be the best even tho the dealers charge so much. But the stock systems. Have minimal adjustments. A not so good signal either. The processor allows all the adjustments to fine tune any system. Stock or aftermarket
