hi guys,

im not sure whats good out there and i think im looking for 2 sets ? ( front and back )

i think im going to install them in my door. looking for 6-1/2 woofers.

something with good bass and good highs, something with smooth highs.

should i do 2 sets ?

if not what sould i do for the back ?

for the ones that dont know what i have..

h/u- alpine

pioneer 4x6 ( in dash ) they do sound good ) running off my h/u.

r.f 6x9 in back. they to sound good. running a sound ordnance amp ( 75rms per speaker )

sq hdc3 15" sub in ported box, runnin a ppi 1800 rms at it. this thing slams hard.

kicker 12" ( useing it as a mid-bass woofer ) and its working good. useing a r.f 500rms at it.

now i say they sound good but looking for better.

ok im looking to spend about $200 a set.

if i get a set of 6-1/2 components for the rear not sure were i would put them. now could mount them where my 6x9 are...

whats good...

$200 a set could grab you a pair of focal integration speakers like the is165. Those are going to sound a lot better than your pioneers especially if you are powering them correctly.

In that price range 6.5" components for the rear would not be an upgrade over your 6x9s.

For the front, it depends on what size woofers you can fit. Massive Audio RK6 would be good, but the woofers are huge. Massive CK6X is another choice with a bit less mounting depth required. I can do dB Drive S365V2, and of course there is always CDT Audio. You can browse around our CDT online store. Make sure you check the new MX-Designs section.

ok ill just get a set for the front.

as far as how big, well they will go into the doors so i really have anuff room for some 8" but i dont want that big. so i was thinking around 6-1/2" woofers with some nice tweeters ( i dont like tingy if you know what i mean )

must come with ( woofer,tweeter,,crossovers )

so what sould i get???

i did forget to say, there only 1 thing what ever i get i will be buying a ppi amp ( the black ice series )

i want all my amps to match.

so these are the only amps i can get.

All Precision Power Car Amplifiers Precision Power Black Ice Amplifiers at Sonic Electronix

o and what ever i get ill have to make pods for them as my doors do not have any speakers, only my dash.

also should i put the tweeters up high ?

i was thinking maybe were my door mirrors are.

they also must keep up with 2 15" if you know what i mean..... lol

I have a 93 s10 blazer. I built small enclosures in the front corner of the doors. I have 6.5's in the doors. The pic shows it ripped apart, again! I took the enclosures out. I just wanted to show you how much room you have without interfering with the window operation. The white aluminium is just a drip guard because I want to see how they sound free air. I put my tweets flush mount in the dash facing you and mid range ribbons are in the factory locations. It's the best sounding set up I have had.

I'm a fan of good rear fill. I have a second set of components in the back. They are time aligned and individually tuned for optimal back seat listening. I also have the rear on their own eq with level control so I can turn them down quickly without messing with sound adjustments. When I'm listening to rap I like to be centered in the music ( hence strong rear speakers). When I listen to other stuff I like depth and imaging so I turn down the rear and listen away.

thanks for the help and pics.

ya that were i was going to mount my set. right now on my door panel theres a pocket there so ill have to shave that plat and i plan on putting carpet on the bottom of the door anyway so i think it will look good and sound good.

as i plan on angling them to the center of the truck, well as best as i can and not just flush mount them.

as for the tweeters i was thinking on the a-pillar. should give me good imaging.

i just need to pic a set so i can start installing them.....

im hoping today ill order a set, just have to look around some more.

Check into the sets I suggested. The Massive Audio sets were very popular a while back. I have a few options from CDT in this price range as well, ready to ship today.
