hey, i just have a few questions about hooking it up but fitst ill tell everything i have

2006 grand prix

HU- is a panasonic strada

speakers are- cadence FXC-6Ki components obviously

4 chnl amp is alpine MRP-f300

mono amp is cadence ZRS-7000D

sub is a DD3512

ok well this is the first time that im doing anything with components did use after market full range speakers which ran off the amp, so i was reading that u need to run a new wire from the amp to the crossover input.. now what i was wondering would it be the same thing as just hooking them up to the factory wires that are right there at the door? the old cadence speakers i had in there were ampd, i crossed the wires over in the back to work on as the front speakers.

It is generally much better to run new speaker wire from your amp to your components seeing as how factory wire is usually small gauge (16 sometimes 18 or 20) and is not designed for power to be passing through it. You probably can pull it off by wiring from your factory wires but you are portentially cutting your amp output and overall sound quality short.

Depending on how much power you are running you might be able to use the factory wires, but when you've got that much invested in the install anyway why not just run new wires?

Factory wires aren't great, but they will get the job done, usually.

When the speaker wires are too small you loose both power and high frequencies. At low power you won't notice a difference, but when you crank it up if the wire adds too much resistance then you're fighting the wire.

You're installing door deadening too right? Right? Get some.

I use factory wires to my rear speakers, but my fronts got new wire.

thanks for the reply's. righ tnow its hooked up like that and just doesnt get real loud, i took the rear speakers out so the specs of the alpine amp say that its 150@2. the main reason i was asking was the wire that the cadence components came with and wanted me to run back were smaller than the factory wires so i wasnt sure. yeah iv got deadening to put in it, that should make it louder right?

Awsome info i just did the doors with 16g wire for the input haha that's all I had, with a very noticeable volume diff, my amp is set right now to 3/7 gain on both and about 80hz on the crossover with the filter off, do you think thoes are good?
