I am looking for a nice set of componets for my corvette. it has 10" speakers in the doors so I think I could do a 3way system if I wanted to.

I have been looking at

polk momo MMC6500 $150 (more budget approach)

boston acoustics pro 6.0 $275 (had pro 6.5's in my mustang)

then I notice a sale on the CDT ES-643 for like $699

so my question is in a car that small am I better off just running a nice 3way system up front or should I do a 6.5 componet in the front and the 5.25 coaxial in the rear?

also some suggestions on brands. last system I did was 5years ago in my mustang. I don't remeber brands like rainbow, hertz, dls, etc.

personal experience...

i had 3 ways in my 02 Z06 and they sounded like shit with the tweet in the door, the sound was jumbled... just my opinion but once i got the tweeter higher they really sounded good

as of right now for simplicity im just doin components

If you have a 10" in the doors now and replace that with even a very high end 6.5" you are going to have a very noticeable difference in mid-bass, sub bass output. My suggestion is if you are going to do a 3 way setup, do a setup with a 8" midbass. Dynaudio makes a set that is a 8" midbass, 3" midrange and 1.1" tweeter. System 362. Very balanced output, no coloration and not too unreasonable on price.

Well I will be adding a rear subwoofers to the car. the stock system just has 10's in the doors. they produce all bass. midbass and subwoofer. so right not the midbass output is the best in the world as a 10" speaker is really not "mid bass" IMO.

I need to pull the pull the door pannel if the speaker mount is square in nature I could run and 8" and 3" but if it is round in nature I will need to stick to something smaller to fit in in the stock opening.

In your opinion though I should step up and run a 3 way system?
