Component Speaker Question

I'm putting together a system in an Accord. I have a Pioneer DEH-P980BT deck, Rockford T400-4 amp and currently a set of Polk 6X9's in the rear deck and Boston RM6 6.5 coax in the front doors. The trunk has an MTX trunk formed box with a 10".

I will run the front 2 channels of the amp to the front doors (~60-80W), use deck power for rear fill to the 6x9's, and bridge the rear 2 channels to power the sub in the trunk.

I haven't installed everything yet, but am looking to replace the RM6's in the front doors with components. I'm looking at the following:

Boston PRO60

Alpine SPR-17S, 17REF, & 17PRO

JL C5-650

My mounting depth cannot exceed 2.65".

I am able to listen to the Alpines locally, but not the Bostons or JL's. The rest of what they have in the store is junk to me. I listen to moistly classic and hard rock.

I've traditionally had Boston's, and have always liked them but found the tweeters a bit harsh. I was thinking of rolling the dice and buying the Bostons without hearing them, but the Alpines all sound pretty good also. My budget is $300 or less.

Opinions?

i like the boston line up, nice speakers for the money. alpine is good too, dont think the quality is as good as bostons. look into rainbow and hertz for SQ nice speakers as well.

dont worry to much on clearance you can always make baffles. or custom make a door pod. about powering sub with 4 ch amp you should be fine as well.

Have you auditioned anything?

Out of your list, I'd go for the Bostons or the Pros.

Also check out the TS-C720PRS and Cerwin Vega V-Max65.

The only ones I've been able to find locally to listen to are the Alpine line. I was also considering the Pioneer PRS but I'd need to listen to them before buying them. The only ones I'd think about buying w/o hearing are the Boston's, just because I've used them before.

There are very few decent car stereo stores around here, most are just install places and don't carry much of anything. I'm having a hard time making a decision without being able to listen. I'm afraid I'm going to have to make a decision on either the Alpine REF's or PRO's, or the Bostons.
