Component Setup Decision

I have a 12L5 Solo-baric and I want to increase the performance of the midbass/highs in my 96 civ so I'm going to fiberglass a kick panel and put a new component setup in the panels. Will 50W RMS push out a good volume level, even though I plan to purchase an amplifier a little after buying a component system? I've heard good things about JL audio as far as sound quality in the correct enclosure, which is mostly what I'm aiming for. My budget is a thrifty $150... are there any other good systems out there that will compete with JL audio with the price?
