Well Im new to the forums as far as posting but Im looking to get a good setup in my car (97 Mercury Grand Marquis(basically a crown vic if you dont know))

I have up to about $800 $1000 max that I can spend. I already have a deck Pioneer DEH3700MP which works good and I dont really need a Flip Screen.

I hate rattling so I guess I need Dynamat but how much do I need and where to put it, Like just in my trunk or in my doors to?

Who makes good wires? I have a friend who is good at installing but I feel talking to him and a couple other friends that everyone is biased towards a brand so I want to get a wide Perspective.

I recently heard a JL W7 hooked up to a 1k Alpine amp and It sounded pretty good, also Ive looked into MTX 9500s and Alpine Type-Xs

I know this seems like its going on forever but I want to cover all the bases.

I was thinking 2 12 but would there be a benifit to using 1 12 and 1 10?

Also who makes good boxes, should I make my own?

and finally Ported or Sealed?

Thanks,

Jarrett

do not mix the subs. stick with one size. make your own box if you can do it accurate. i would do a sealed for your first time.

oh, and for 800 - 1000 bucks i would avoid JL. very nice stuff, but very pricey. you will probably need front comps or speakers and an amp for those. a sub or 2 and an amp for those. 1000 is def. enough for a good starter system.

get 2 12" FI SSD with flatwind coil not copper coil

-$418

Build box on own if can

-$100

Power Acoustic A2300

-$250

Wiring Kicker 0ga kit

-$90-100

Grand Total = $868/LOUD

Also if you cant build the box on your own or install the wires add about $200

lets see go get a pioneer premier head unit you like-$200

he doesn't need the head unit. even better for the budget.

don't you need speakers for a complete setup?
didnt see him post anything bout new comps or coaxs but if you do let us kno ill work somethin else out

EDIT : Actually read whole thread lol...but if youre friend can install then it will only be like $150-200 for box built by shop and they should make it to the specs of your trunk...depends on their cost tho so it depends and also about the wire thing i believe kicker has the best out now because its so flexible and easy to install...but thats my opinion (is kinda expensive tho)

Sorry I should have posted different, a complete setup as far as subs go, Im happy with my stock speakers for now, also my friend who would install my subs works at Best Buy so he gets stuff at 5% over BestBuys Cost. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

As far as Amps who makes a good Amp? obviously it has to be able to power the Subs but what is a good brand for amps?

Thanks

edit: what are advantages of ported versus sealed vice versa and Ive never heard of FI SSD who makes them and link to info about them would be great

amps are all on how much you wanna spend....you can get good ones for sooo much $$$ or decent ones for decent $$ etc etc... and well get wiring and shit from him then and yea the PowerAcoustic will fit your need unless someone else finds a better deal within your budget

Oh yea and some subs dont like sealed some dont like ported...ur FI subs will like ported...also ported usually get a hell of alot louder and cleaner

have fun hearing stock speakers over 2 FI's.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif

Ported basically takes the cake in your situation, if your just trying to get a loud system and space isnt an issue, I wouldn't worry about going sealed unless you dont have alot of trunk space, but in that car I know for a fact you have plenty, much more than you would need for 2 SSD 12's.

i would get just 1 of the FI's and get a cheaper amp and some comps for the front.
booo...loud subs cant hear music that well FTW!!!!!!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/up2something.gif.dd110ecf3ae4b76050d87598f2f8de7c.gif
