Competing

Intredid trunks are huge and you prolly could get the right box size in there BUT by it being a trunk style vehicle I don't think you will hit 150 on the TL. Now throw that same system in a hatchback and your good.

...my boy has this in his o1 concorde(same car basicly) and burps 154's all day long

MOre details please...154s outlaw on an old AC? A pic would go a long way....

btw the loudest trunk car in the world does a 153.0 legal on the termlab...fyi.

What do you mean large box covering whole trunk? I did that and hit 156 with a custom rear deck for my port. Here take a look at this. This is before I had all my mtx 9500 subs in there. I did 156 off the 9500 mtx subs off 190 a/c.
These are the audiopipes that did 149.3. Was off 190 ac as well. After I put all my mtx subs and shit my car was stolen later that month. Oh well.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

Please provide proof of that 156... Bearing in mind that the loudest trunk car in the world is indeed a 153 legal on the TL sensor...

Precisely.

If you are going for a 150 out of a trunk you will need at minimum 4-5kW and at LEAST 2 beefy spl woofers and a HELL of a LOT of testing. And yes, you will be doing 150 at 1 frequency.

150 is not a number to happen just by throwing a sub in your car and putting a lot of power to it. There is a ton of design that goes into hitting numbers like that...and as was stated, you won't get there if you asked this question, sorry.

For reference too, the sub isn't really that important, it is, but not...the install is much more a factor in what you hit. Type R's are fairly cheap drivers (though effective), and a few people on here hit over 150 last week I believe at MECA world finals...so, figure out if that was the best sub in the world or not, then realize that they were taking top 3 at the world finals with marks right around 150.

Told you it was on the 190 ac for the 156.4 On the tl it was 152.4 I was never told by anyone I was near a record. Matter of fact a kid did a 155 in a trunk in a newer olds cutlass. I know because he used to beat me everytime. Most of these shows were local car shows. They were sponsored buy clash of the Titans and local audio shops.

I agree with you too about the one notes at that high of dbs. I used to pull my deck out and only burp certain freq. on a bass cd. When I would listen to music I would rarley listen to anything over 147 or so. After 150 it starts to get real distorted.

What makes trunk cars so ineffecient? Is it because in hatchbacks and suvs that the wave doesn't have to pass through the sub box (after it bounces off rear of car) and the suvs/hatchbacks can simply reflect off a window without having to travel through boxes, seats, etc. I know this may seem elementary and such...I am just trying to understand.

Yeah plus more airspace. I used to have a toyota corrolla hatchback. That thing used to bump hard as hell. Put the same system in a cavalier after that and didnt sound no where near the corrolla. My cutlass is an 85 Flipx. I know you were wondering. My system looks like it was in the trunk but to honest with the way the port was built and the box is more like the subs were in a wall enclousere almost. My trunk barley rattled. Was my back window that would rattle like a *****.
